Arctic Circle thanks:

Thanks to Simon Bradshaw, who gave me my first daily cartooning gig at Brighton's Argus newspaper, where I worked for 4 years. He was a great copy editor, but rubbish at drawing seagulls (which he had a habit of doing on my roughs).

A big "cheers, mate!" goes to the late James Kemsley of Ginger Meggs fame. James was a champion of up-and-coming cartoonists and got Arctic Circle into the Australian Regional Press. He then passed my details to Ian Dale who sent my work on to the right King Features folk.

I am sorry I never met Jay Kennedy, the late Editor-in-Chief of King Features. He gave me constructive criticism which helped bring Arctic Circle to syndication standard and was always very encouraging.

I am indebted to Brendan Burford, the Comics Editor at King Features, who critiques my weekly doodlings, translates my forgotten Anglocisms (is that even a word?) into Americanisms and gives me the impression he has complete confidence in me as a cartoonist, though he is dubious about my ability to pronounce the place name "Guildford". The first 'd' is silent. Really.
